Margo the Artist

Blessed with a vivid imagination, I’ve been making art since childhood. My early works were pastel drawings inspired by the exotic tropical landscapes of Gauguin. At Catonsville Community College and the Maryland Institute-College of Art, I studied painting, jewelry and stained glass.
Now living in the coastal artists’ colony of Gulfport Florida, I work with a variety of media to create dimensional works inspired by my colorful surroundings. With pastel on textured paper I make drawings embellished with wood, fabric, beads and cardboard. With stained glass and repurposed thrift store treasures I make “pique assiette” collages and decorative mosaics. These utilitarian works include wall and garden artwork and home furnishings with a beachy, shabby chic appeal.
